from a validated prototype to a product you can manufacture and sell
Hardware productization
Hardware productization turns a frozen specification and a working prototype into a product you can sell. It can be built in a factory, it passes type and regulatory approvals, and customers can buy it at the unit cost you planned for. At Haltian, productization typically takes 6–12 months and ends with your product in mass production.

Where are you starting from?
Most productization projects start from one of two situations.
Why productization decides whether you launch on time
This is the longest phase of the journey, and the one that decides your launch date. We make sure the design can be manufactured at volume, the product passes its certifications, and every step happens on schedule. The concept phase removed the biggest unknowns; productization is about execution.
How hardware productization works
Four gates, each ending with something proven and signed off. You always know what has been validated and what comes next.
What you have at the end of productization
Hardware productization ends with a product in mass production, not a design file.
- A production-ready design: final mechanical, electrical and software designs, with CAD files, PCB layouts and schematics for production
- Verified prototypes: EVT, DVT and PVT builds tested for performance, reliability and compliance
- Certification: approvals for your target markets, such as CE, FCC and ISED, plus country-specific type approvals
- A qualified supply chain: component sourcing, supplier agreements and logistics in place
- Production test systems: end-of-line testing that holds quality and yield
- Mass production ramped up: a verified production line and successful pilot runs
- A handover package: full production documentation, test reports and CAD files
Why productize with Haltian
One partner, end to end
Detail design, verification, certification, supply chain and ramp-up sit with the same team. Manufacturing and supply-chain partners are chosen together with you, from our network or yours, and we manage them for you.
Verification you can defend
EVT, DVT and PVT are run and reported, not assumed. The more thoroughly a product is tested, the fewer surprises and returns you get in the field.
Certification as a repeatable service
We manage type approvals for your target markets, work with an established test partner network, and have an FCC-accredited antenna lab within walking distance of the team.
A program manager owns the plan
Transparent project management and clear visibility into each gate, so your own team can stay focused on the market launch.
CLIENT STORY · Wandelbots
From early prototype to a robot programming pen customers love
Wandelbots had working prototypes of TracePen, a pen that teaches robots by moving along the desired path. We took it into productization: mechanics designed for manufacturing, custom electronics with SteamVR tracking, firmware, production testing and type approvals. Robot programming that used to take days now takes hours.

Frequently asked questions
Hardware productization is the phase that turns a frozen specification and a working prototype into a product that can be manufactured, certified and sold at the planned unit cost. It covers detail design, EVT, DVT and PVT prototype builds, certification and type approvals, and the ramp-up to mass production. At Haltian, productization typically takes 6–12 months, and we set up and manage manufacturing with partners in Europe or Asia.
Hardware productization at Haltian typically takes 6–12 months, depending on the complexity of the device and how much of the design is new. The program plan from the concept phase sets out your exact timeline.
They are successive validation builds, each answering a different question: does the design work, is it robust and repeatable, and can it be produced at volume. Each ends with a verification report.
Planning should start earlier than most teams think. The certification measurements begin after the DVT phase, and type approvals typically take 4–10 weeks each. Starting them late is one of the most common causes of delay between a finished design and a shipping product.
Yes. We can pick up a program at detail design, at verification or at ramp-up. We assess each case first, starting with a quick analysis of where the design stands.
Haltian does not run its own factory. We set up and manage the supply chain with manufacturing partners in Europe or Asia, matched to your volumes, and support you through the production start.
When Haltian productizes your device, you own the IP. All intellectual property created in the project belongs to you.
The product moves into maintenance and support, where updates, security, component changes and type approvals keep it sellable.
