keeping a shipped product sellable for years
Maintenance and sustaining engineering
Launch is the beginning, not the end. After a connected device ships, firmware needs updates, components go obsolete, security requirements tighten and new markets open. Haltian’s maintenance and sustaining engineering keeps your product reliable, secure and sellable for as long as it is on the market. There is no end gate.

Why maintenance is a strategic decision, not an afterthought
A device that no longer receives security updates, or cannot be approved in a new market, stops earning long before it stops working. Maintenance protects the revenue from every unit you have already shipped. It also opens new revenue: software features, subscriptions, and services delivered to devices already in the field.
What our sustaining engineering covers
Haltian stays with the product after ramp-up. Take the full lifecycle package or only the modules you need.
Why choose Haltian for maintenance
The team that built it
keeps it
When we designed your product, the engineers who built it are the ones who maintain it, so no design history is lost.
Updateability designed in
In the products we design, signed updates and rollback protection are part of the architecture, not added later.
Type approvals as a repeatable service
We manage approvals for your target markets and work with an established test partner network.
Predictable cost
The service is priced as an agreed scope, so maintenance costs are predictable rather than open-ended.
CLIENT STORY · monidor
A second-generation medical device at half the production cost
Monidor’s first Monidrop, a device for remote IV monitoring, was liked by its users but expensive to produce. Together with Monidor’s own team, we redesigned it for simpler production, replaced the costly touch screen, added WLAN for remote monitoring and moved production to a better-suited manufacturer. Material costs fell by more than 50%, and the new Monidrop received CE approval.

Frequently asked questions
Sustaining engineering is the engineering work that keeps a product reliable, secure and sellable after launch: fixing field issues, managing component changes, updating firmware and maintaining type approvals. At Haltian, when we designed your product, the engineers who built it are the ones who maintain it, so no design history is lost. You can take the full lifecycle package or only the modules you need, from security and Cyber Resilience Act compliance to next-version development.
If you sell a connected product in the EU, the Cyber Resilience Act requires you to handle vulnerabilities, report actively exploited ones and provide security updates for a defined support period. Reporting obligations have applied since 11 September 2026 and the rest of the regulation applies from 11 December 2027. We handle the engineering side: vulnerability management, security patching, and update delivery.
Yes. Sustaining engineering shows what the next generation should do better. Field data, defect trends and component changes feed straight into its concept study.
The scope is agreed with you, so pricing is predictable rather than open-ended.
You do. All intellectual property created in the work belongs to you.
Productization ends with the product in mass production and a handover package. From there, maintenance and support begin.
