Get the full potential of IoT: Invitation to integration of things!
On December 2nd at the Haltian IoT Solutions Summit 2020 we announced and invitation to the integrations of things, meaning that we welcome all partners to join our device management in the Wirepas ecosystem!
According to IoT Analytics, Internet of Things devices have surpassed the non-IoT devices in number of connections. In their Market Update IoT Analytics say that “Of the 21.7 billion active connected devices worldwide, 11.7 billion will be IoT device connections at the end of 2020.” In addition, it is said that by 2025 there’s expected to be more than 30 billion IoT connections, with almost 4 IoT devices per person on average.
So it’s clear that IoT solutions and IoT connected devices have come here to stay, but for companies hoping to integrate IoT to their operations, there are still many difficulties that slow down the process of taking on digital solutions. Customers want valid data for their smart buildings, but are lost on how to get it especially when it comes to retrofitting old buildings. We believe that in order for businesses and consumers to get access to the full potential of IoT, we need to tackle one of the biggest hurdles in IoT solutions: Interoperability.
How to tackle IoT interoperability
Interoperability is a huge concern by customers, as any IoT related investment is typically for the long term. So far, many IoT vendors work in silos, where their offering is limited to certain functions and business areas. We believe that this is in part limiting the potential market growth.
The market is full of IoT technology silos with vendor lock-ins where the total cost of ownership is hidden in the complexity of the whole solution. It is clear that what customers truly want, is choice and interoperability between different IoT systems and devices.
This is why ensuring sensor interoperability is one of the key elements in making sure the growth of IoT solutions doesn’t stop. Instead of “Internet of Things” we want to start talking about “Integration of Things”.

Best connectivity technologies for smart buildings
With years of experience with various connectivity technologies, we have found the best partners to operate in the field of smart buildings. One of these partners is our long-term connectivity partner, Wirepas. Wirepas Mesh IoT connectivity software ensures the flow of data between devices and back-end reliably. With Wirepas, our IoT solutions are scalable to millions of devices and have low power requirements, enabling the IoT devices connected to have years of battery life. All this makes massive IoT installations possible, and makes the Thingsee IoT ecosystem particularly realiable in the real estate environment.
In our device management ecosystem, there is over-the-air updates for easy life cycle management, as well as end-to-end security developed and managed by us, straight from the factory.
We welcome other vendors to join in collaboration
Device management is an essential element of any IoT deployment. To make IoT easy and simple for everyone, we have decided to fix the issue of interoperability and together with Wirepas and our customers we want to enable other vendors to join our device management in the Wirepas ecosystem in collaboration. So that together we can create the best choice of sensor devices for our customers
What this means is that Haltian is publishing the Thingsee message format between devices in our support pages for anyone to deploy and join the customer use cases.
In the center of it all, is the Thingsee Operations Cloud, which offers complete device management and enables all customers easy access to the IoT data they need. Thingsee Operations Cloud will be made available for any Wirepas ecosystem vendor in the near future and we’d love to initiate discussions with our potential partners already.
The benefits of joining our ecosystem are:
- Firmware updates for feature improvements and enhancements
- End-to-end security for the peace of mind
- Device activation at the time of installation as well as device removal at the time of replacement
- Possibility of support & maintenance as a service, allowing customers to focus on running their business instead of running an IoT network
- Remote device configuration
